A dock that keeps you on task
A focus mode for every workspace, with Claude built in. Change anything about it by asking.
Petal for Mac is on its way. For now it runs on Linux.
Petal for Windows is on its way. For now it runs on Linux.
curl -fsSL https://petal-dock.vercel.app/install.sh | bashFree and open source.
A mode for every workspace
Each workspace remembers its mode, and each mode has its own apps. Swipe between workspaces and the dock changes with you.
Wander off, like opening X in a Building workspace, and Petal asks once: go back to what you were doing, or switch the workspace to Social. Either way, it doesn't nag.
- Building
- Terminal, editor, docs. Notifications from everything else wait.
- Writing
- Notes and documents, nothing pinging.
- Social
- Chats, feeds and videos, everything comes through.
- Yours
- “Add a Gaming mode with Steam and Discord.” Claude makes it.
Change anything by asking
Claude lives in the dock and knows how Petal works: its look, its features, its modes. Say what you want and it's done. It can help with the rest of your computer too, and asks before anything risky.
- Look
- “Make the dock background black.” “Bigger icons.”
- Behaviour
- “Stop the icons from bouncing.” “Move the dock to the left.”
- Modes
- “Add a Gaming mode with Steam and Discord.”
- Usage
- A ring around the Claude button fills as you use your Claude plan. Hover it to see what's left.
Held, not lost
In a focus mode, notifications from apps outside it wait quietly on their own mode, with a count. Your mode's apps come through as usual, and Claude lets the ones that can't wait find you.
And the rest of it
Badges and bounces
Unread counts on icons, and one bounce when an app needs you.
Progress rings
Downloads and copies show their progress around the icon.
Live previews
Hover an app to see its windows. Click one to bring it forward.
Minimize into the dock
Minimized windows wait as thumbnails until you want them.
Drop to open
Drop files on an app to open them there, or on the trash.
Now playing
Album art with play and pause, right in the dock.
Folder stacks
Downloads and screenshots, newest first, a click away.
Every screen
One dock per monitor, each with its own workspace's mode.
Free and open source
On Linux it needs Omarchy 4.5 or later for now. It keeps itself up to date. macOS and Windows are on the way.
curl -fsSL https://petal-dock.vercel.app/install.sh | bashOr build it from source.
Good to know
Is Petal free?
Yes, and open source under the MIT license.
Do I need Claude?
No. Modes, badges, previews and everything else work without it. With Claude Code installed and signed in, Petal uses your own plan for the chat and for sorting new windows into modes.
What leaves my computer?
Petal has no servers, analytics or tracking. With Claude sorting on, the title of a window it doesn't know, and held notifications, go to Claude through your Claude Code. Turn it off and nothing does.
How do updates work?
Petal checks for a new version now and then, installs it, and asks before restarting the shell to load it.
What do I need?
For now, Omarchy 4.5 or later on Linux. Petal plugs into Omarchy's shell, so there is nothing else to install.
